The Takemusu Aikido Association South Africa (TAASA) is a free group of Aikidoka holding at least the rank of 1st kyu.

The goals of the Association are:

1 – To promote the diffusion of Aikido as it was taught by its founder, Morihei Ueshiba;
2 – To promote and spread the teaching method of Morihiro Saito Sensei, direct student of the founder;
3 – To preserve and keep the purity and the quality of this pedagogy;
4 – To support its members in spreading the traditional Aikido;

TAASA is the only South African body acknowledged by Morihiro Saito Sensei to teach and spread the Iwama Takemusu Aikido.

Christian Pacella Sensei, Aikikai 4th dan, representative of Morihiro Saito Sensei in South Africa, is the TAASA President and Technical Director.

In compliance with the wishes of Morihiro Saito Sensei, TAASA officially states to faithfully respect Moriteru Ueshiba, Aikido Doshu, and follow the rules of the Aikikai Foundation.

TAASA is an accredited member of Takemusu Aikido Kyokai (TAK), a preservation society affiliated to the Aikikai Foundation, with the objective of protecting, preserving and teaching the Traditional Aikido of the founder, O-Sensei Morihei Ueshiba, which he taught in Iwama.

TAK is a network of dojos and individuals, all of whom are members of the Aikikai Foundation (TAK accepts members ranked by Aikikai only).
